Doughty goes to Dallas
First year Level 4 Referee Leigh Doughty has been selected by The Football Association as the representative for the North-West to referee at the 2010 Dallas Cup. Leigh will officiate at the prestigious FIFA youth tournament over Easter under the guidance of George McCaffrey, Barry Gee and Kevin Pike who coach The FA Academy.
Lancashire County FA are proud of what Leigh has achieved and would like to congratulate him on this very prestigious appointment.
Level 1 Tutor Course proves a success
Five officials from Lancashire have successfully completed the FA Level 1 Referees Course, which ran over 3 days and culminated on Sunday 31st January 2010.
Peter Brown, Lee Willetts, Keiron Jones, Kat Davey and William Eaton all attended the pilot course which Referee Development Officer Dean Mohareb co-ordinated on behalf of The Football Association
Dean was extremely proud of the achievements of the candidates,
“To successfully complete the programme is a tremendous achievement and for Lancashire to have nearly a third of the delegates graduate is extremely pleasing”
In order to become FA Level 1 Tutors, a qualification which will enable the group to teach Basic Law, all five of the Lancashire officials must now be appraised by a representative from The Football Association delivering a training session on a Basic Referees Course.
2010 Young Referee Conference Nominations Announced
The FA Young Referee Conferences are the brain child of David Elleray, Chairman of The FA Referees Committee and a member of the UEFA Referees Committee, and has the backing of the PGMOL as well as The RAE.
These Conferences are designed to inform, inspire and develop refereeing skills of our young referees so the speakers include some of the country’s top officials and refereeing experts. The programme will include lectures, discussion groups, workshops, fitness training and practical sessions.
The Development Group Nominations (Year 1) from Lancashire have been confirmed as Richard Holmes (Preston) and Alan Bennett (Wigan).
