Launched for the 2009-10 season following a successful pilot scheme, The FA Charter Standard League award assesses the ability of leagues to provide a high quality, safe and enjoyable experience against a standard set of criteria.
Members of the League Committee were presented with their certificate and award at the Premier League match between Bolton Wanderers and West Ham United.
The league currently has over 450 teams playing Mini-Soccer, 9v9 and 11v11 from U7 to U16 including a girls-only division. In all, the league has around 5,300 children taking part in three formats of football each weekend.
Warren Barlow, Bolton, Bury & District Junior Football League Chairman, said: “The league is delighted that it’s achievements have been recognised by the Lancashire FA.
“The Committee and the Clubs have all contributed towards gaining the award. The league is proud to be the first Charter Standard League in Lancashire and we aim to increase the number of teams within our league to give more children the opportunity to play football in the local area.”
John Treacy, Lancashire FA League Development Officer, added: “On behalf of the Lancashire FA we congratulate the Bolton, Bury & District Junior Football League for their outstanding achievement. The league is seen as a model of good practise across Lancashire and we look forward to working together to deliver the League Development Plan moving forward.”
