Apprenticeship Programme

Get qualifications and experience with us

Over the past seven years, Lancashire FA has been delivering a very successful Apprenticeship Programme, focusing on developing PE and School Sport provision as well as providing young people with real-life experience.

Our Apprenticeship Programme meets many of the target areas for the PE and School Sport Premium spend under the latest guidelines, while also meeting a variety of Ofsted requirements placed in their audit criteria.

Currently, we have 25 apprentices enrolled on our two-year programme who are employed and actively working in schools whilst completing the qualifications and training delivered by us here at Lancashire FA.

As of May 1st 2017, if you employ a 16-18 year old apprentice and employ less than 50 staff, you will be eligible to receive a £1,000 uplift from the Skills Funding Agency (SFA).

Our Coach Education Manager Colin Greenall said: “Over the years, the Lancashire FA Apprenticeship Programme has demonstrated that with the right young apprentice in place, your current PE delivery can be supported and developed in both primary and senior school environments.”

Who can help with my query?

Lancashire FA's Apprenticeship Programme provides young people with fantastic opportunities, with low-cost long-term benefits for schools – but don’t just take our word for it.

The programme has received praise, not only from current and previous employers, but on a national level from the FA:

“We wanted to maximise our spending of the Sports Premium funding to ensure that our children accessed a wide variety of sports, play leader schemes and sports role models who can provide opportunities in sport.
“We decided one way to achieve this was by employing a Sports Apprentice and we're really pleased that we did so.
“We are looking forward to working with more apprentices in the future and I would highly recommend Lancashire FA as a training provider and partner.”
Sophie Inman, School Business Manager, Lea Community Primary School, Preston

“The FA wholeheartedly supports the introduction of Lancashire FA’s Apprenticeship Programme.
“This is a highly innovative approach to creating the football workforce of the future. The apprentices will gain invaluable training, qualifications and experience that will give them the skills to be the coaches, teachers, development officers, referees, and administrators of the future.
“Lancashire FA and its partners deserve to be applauded for this, and the success of the programme is such that I very much look forward to it being rolled out across the region and the rest of England.”
Mark Hardcastle, The FA National Game Regional Manager for the North West
