Sports & Pupil Support Apprentice wanted

The children, staff and governing body of Pleckgate High School, in partnership with Lancashire FA, are looking to appoint a skilled, enthusiastic and highly motivated Sports & Pupil Support Apprentice who will be a role model for our children.

Vacancy description:

You will be involved in a range of activities in school including:

  • Supporting the delivery of PE lessons across all age groups of children.
  • Assisting with school sports clubs.
  • Supporting children to reach their potential in a range of lessons across the curriculum.

Qualifications needed:

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs (Including Maths & English at Grade C or above).

Personal qualities

Applicants should be:

  • Passionate about supporting students to improve in all aspects of learning, across a range of subjects.
  • Able to work effectively with the PE Department, supporting pupils with SEN, including physical disabilities.
  • Willing to assist with the toileting and changing of pupils with physical disabilities.
  • A positive role model for our children and inspire them to be the best they can be.
  • Eager to learn and develop new skills.
  • Willing to be involved in whole school life.
  • Flexible and adaptable.
  • Able to work in a professional manner at all times, adhering to school procedures and demonstrating awareness of the importance of safeguarding.

    Training will include:

    Year 1

    • NVQ Level 2 in Activity Leadership
    • Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Learning in Physical Education and School Sport
    • Level 2 in Employment Awareness in Active Leisure and Learning
    • Level 2 Award in First Aid for Sport
    • 1st 4sport Level One Award in Coaching Football
    • Level 1 and 2 Sports Leaders Award
    • FA CRC disclosure

    Year 2

    • NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Supporting the Delivery of Physical Education and School Sport
    • Level 3 in Employment Awareness in Active Leisure and Learning
    • Level 2 Functional Skills Maths/English (if required)
    • 1st 4sport Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Football

    This will be a fixed term contract in the first instance from 1 September 2017 until 31st August 2019.

    The successful applicant will require DBS clearance.
