Safeguarding & Youth Football Conference at Lancashire FA
We are delighted to announce that we will host a Safeguarding and Youth Football Conference at The County Ground, Leyland on Saturday 22nd June, 2019 from 09.45 to 15.30.
Lancashire’s clubs and leagues have been pioneers in the development of youth football since the turn of the millennium. Many of the initiatives now embedded in the youth game saw their infancy and development in the county. However, on the cusp of a new decade there is still work to do if we are to ensure that every child and young player in the county is able to play football in a safe, enjoyable, and developmental environment, freed from excessive adult pressure and practices which restrict their participation preventing inclusion.
During the conference we will revisit key skills such as CPR and the use of AED (defibrillators), reaffirm the critical importance of equality and diversity, as well as looking forward in a spirit of collaboration and innovation to see how grassroots football in the county can best meet the remaining challenges within the youth game and hence, once again, lead the football nation.
We are very pleased to welcome Lancashire Police to the conference and an expert officer will brief us on the prevalence of child sexual exploitation and how football can play its part in denying access to those who would harm our children in this way. But most importantly of all it will be a listening conference where we are anxious to hear your views, concerns, ideas, and solutions so the postcode lottery of childhood enjoyment in our game is ended once and for all.
We will initially be limiting places to two per club or league but may open this up once we have a clearer idea of demand. In the first instance places can be reserved by emailing rachael.pearson@lancashirefa.com.
If you would like additional people placing on the waiting list please advise us in the email. There is no cost for the event and a full buffet lunch will be provided. As such can you please advise of any special dietary requirements or allergies.
