A youth cup match at the County Ground

Statement | One To One Coaching

It has become apparent that some individuals within a club role/environment, or as a private provider, are offering one to one coaching sessions, and in some cases already providing one to one coaching, in particular to children as young as four-years-old.

This is deeply concerning in the current climate and goes against current Government/FA guidelines.

This is not considered in any case to be “good practice” and would always require a parent/carer to be present, therefore would be breaching Government guidelines.

Some individuals are interpreting recent guidance on carrying out sporting activity between two people as a means of starting one to one coaching of children from other households. This is unacceptable and does not take into account any measures of safeguarding and social distancing, as young children & youths must have a parent/carer present.

There are no circumstances where any person can carry out this activity within a club environment or with a club’s agreement, nor as a private provider as you would be breaching Government regulations.

Although we fully understand the frustrations/worries that understandably arise as a result of the necessary restrictions currently surrounding COVID-19,  we must safeguard all of our young children and the wider as a priority, whilst also adhere to social distancing regulations to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Please do not engage in this practice. We will deal with any breaches in the appropriate manner and escalate to the appropriate agency.
