The Lancashire FA County Women’s League will cover the whole range of the Open age 16+ from beginners to the FA Female pyramid.

The league takes place from September to May and matches are 11v11 in format and played on a Sunday afternoon- The league which sits beneath the North West Women’s Regional League has 3 divisions and a League Cup competition and has member clubs from Cumbria to Wigan and across to East Lancashire and this season is proud to have 4 clubs who have made the step into Regional football.

The Lancashire Women’s Recreational League is aimed at supporting females aged 16+ to get involved in the game as a beginner or a returning player providing a flexible format to meet the needs of society as a whole.

We have some fantastic examples of work by many clubs across the County engaging with the mums of their junior players and using it as a way of returning to fitness and socialising!

The league itself based on FUN, ENJOYMENT and playing time for ALL as a priority is ran as flexibly as it can be within reason some examples from last season are below:

• Divisions and fixtures are setup depending on the needs of the majority of the membership at the start of the season (Format)
• Fixtures are set via deadline dates and are not weekly (You can play as an when you like) Once a month is encouraged at least but as long as you are finished by the deadline then it is flexible to support your needs)- Facility, weather, religious festivals may impact.
• Flexibility on signing on new players and as minimal admin as possible
• Qualified referees appointed (Clubs to pay them)
