Youth Voice for FAB

We Need You To Join Us And Shape Your Football In Lancashire

Our Youth Voice FAB has been set up in recognition that young people currently have very little say in the way their football is organised and the experience they face.

We intend to change this as we believe that young people are innovative and perceptive and perfectly placed to help shape their current and future game. This Advisory Board is consultative and reports directly to the Lancashire FA Board on all aspects of Youth Development allowing our young people’s perspective to be freely heard (you can see the full terms of reference here).

FAB Structure
Do you want to lead this team? The Youth Voice FAB will be overseen by a Chair, who will work closely, and be fully supported by, the Lancashire FA Lead. The Chair will also get to liaise with the Lancashire FA Board, sharing young people’s opinions directly. You can find more information about the Chair’s role from the Chair Job Description and can apply for this role as part of your application (note, you do need to be aged 16+ to be the Chair).

As an adult-young person partnership that is focussed on hearing young people’s views, this FAB will be limited to a maximum of 50% adults (aged 21+).

To Apply
If you’re aged 11+ and have a keen interest in shaping youth football, please complete this application form by Sunday 19th December 2021. You can follow this link to find out more about the many benefits of joining.

Once you apply, you’ll be invited to a brief, informal interview during January where you’ll get the chance to ask and questions and find out more about what’s involved.

Lancashire FA is committed to equal opportunities, diversity and inclusion, and welcomes applications from our under-represented communities as we are keen for our FABs to be representative of Lancashire's diverse football society. Lancashire FA is also a values-led organisation, and it is really important that anyone joining us shares our values of creativity, inspiring, teamwork, caring and integrity.

Best of luck with your application – we are very much looking forward to hearing from you and welcoming you to our Youth Voice FAB!

Join the Youth Voice Football Advisory Board!
A message from the Lancashire FA Lead – Neil Yates

Youth football is flourishing in our county with over 40,000 participants enjoying the great benefits the game has to offer on a weekly basis. This is in no small part due to the brilliant work of our leagues and clubs over the last two decades. Now is the time to create a Youth Voice Football Advisory Board (FAB) to both develop the game yet further, and meet the challenges of the future, ensuring high quality, safe and inclusive provision for all young people. This FAB will be an equal partnership between adults and young people (aged 11-21) in accordance with our Youth Engagement Framework (February 2021), and in acknowledgement of the fact that both parties need the other on board for the game to progress in the right direction for the months and years to come.

The rights of children to have a direct input into their lives is enshrined in international law and we fully expect our young recruits to bring with them legitimacy, along with their energy and innovation to the group’s discussions. We are eagerly seeking applications from young people and adults right across the game who have an interest in shaping future provision. We want ideas, commitment, and most of all a passion to raise standards and make grassroots youth football the experience it ought to be for ALL participants. What are you waiting for? Join us!

Who We Are Looking For:
Adults | coaches, managers, referees or club and league volunteers all with a strongly evident desire to develop and improve youth football right across the county

Youths | players, coaches, referees or volunteers with strong ideas about the game and a drive to contribute towards raising standards, increasing participation and shaping the game.

We welcome applicants from right across our diverse football community especially those groups and areas who may have been traditionally under-represented or not heard within the youth game.

Check out the Youth Voice FAB Terms of Reference here, along with the benefit of joining, and complete the application form by Sunday 19th December 2021.

We can’t wait to welcome you!
