Final Calling

Natalie Aspinall has been appointed to The FA Women’s Cup Final
Lancashire FA official Natalie Aspinall has been appointed to The SSE FA Women’s Cup Final at Wembley on 1st August 2015.  The historic game will be played between Chelsea and Notts County, and is the first time this final will be played at Wembley.  The game will also be broadcast live on BBC1.

Natalie will act as Assistant Referee for the tie, and will be her second final after refereeing the final back in 2012, in which Chelsea were beaten on penalties by Birmingham City.  Natalie is excelling as an Assistant Referee currently and this will be the icing on the cake for what is currently a tremendous season.

On Saturday Natalie officiated her second game at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada where she is performing exceptionally well, having had two games in the group stages already.  Referee Development Manager, Steve Stewart said of Aspinall’s latest appointment, ‘it is significant, that because the Women’s FA Cup final is being staged at Wembley this year, that The FA have decided to select the best of the best to grace the occasion.  The whole football community in Lancashire is delighted that Natalie carries the red rose in to this game, and we pass on our congratulations and delight at her selection’.

Natalie said of her appointment ‘To be appointed to any FA Final is an honour and privilege, but to be appointed to the first ever FA Women's Cup Final to be held at Wembley is unbelievable. It's every players and referees dream to walk out on Wembley and in a few weeks I will be realising this dream.  I am so proud to be part of this historical event and to represent Lancashire FA.   I would like to thank the Referee Development team at the LFA for their support throughout my career and my family and friends for their continued support and encouragement’.

The game will be refereed by Amy Fearn (Derbyshire FA), the second assistant is Jane Simms (West Riding FA) and the fourth official is Rebecca Welch (Durham FA).
