Burnley FC Women come out victorious in the Women’s Senior Cup Final

The Clarets won 9-1 on the night against West Didsbury and Chorlton.

West’s Becca Simpson’s bullet strike opened the scoring in the fifth minute as she picked the ball up from range and drilled the ball into the bottom corner.

Their keeper, Megan Dickin was tested throughout the first half but was beaten with a header, the ball from a corner was whipped in by Rhema Lord Mears and met by Amaya Coleman Evans that levelled up the score.

What was almost a repeat of their first goal Burnley took the lead from another headed goal this time from Georgia Marshall.

It was 3-1 just two minutes later, a scrappy bit of play inside the West box eventually fell to the feet of Brenna Mcpartlan who made no mistake with her effort.

A hat-trick of assists for Lord Mears as her cross landed at the back post, Dom Cooper was the person to meet it that time.

Burnley picked up where they left off as in the 60th minute Reidford picked out a wonderful pass into the feet of Ginny Lackey, she set up Laura Elford for a left-footed finish.

Elford grabbed her second in quick succession as she was played inside the West box and dispatched it without hesitation.

In the 77th minute, excellent link-up play tore the West defense apart where Reidford squared the ball across to Lackey who placed the ball into the net.

Just a minute later Elford broke the line of the defense to get her hat-trick.

The game capped off at 9-1, Mcpartlan grabbed her second as she picked up the ball and smashed it past the keepers right from 25 yards out.
