Lancashire FA was pleased to see many of its affiliated clubs reach the Third Round of this season’s Emirates FA Cup over the weekend, particularly National League North side Chorley who secured a memorable 2-1 victory over League One Peterborough to reach the Third Round for the first time in their history.
After a shock win over former winners Wigan Athletic after extra time in the First Round, Chorley – who had only ever beaten Football League opposition in the cup three times in their history – won the game at the Weston Homes Stadium after coming from behind, with goals from Connor Hall and Lewis Baines completing a famous upset for the Lancashire side.
Meanwhile, our congratulations also go to Blackpool, Morecambe and Oldham Athletic for reaching the Third Round of the competition, where they could potentially face a whole host of fellow-Lancashire sides from the Championship and Premier League.
The Third Round draw will begin at 7:10pm this evening (Monday 30 November) and will be shown live on the official Emirates FA Cup YouTube, Twitter and Facebook channels, as well as forming part of BT Sport's live coverage of Monday's game between Canvey Island and Boreham Wood.
Congratulations once again and best of luck to all teams in the next round.
