Tickets to this year’s UEFA Women’s EURO are now back on general sale.
Leigh Sports Village Stadium will be hosting four games during the tournament, including three group stage matches and a quarter-final.
The group games will feature teams from Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland and Portugal, who have now been confirmed as replacements for Russia. Portugal originally lost to Russia in the qualifying playoffs for the tournament.
The Portuguese national side will be making only their second appearance at a EURO finals tournament having previously competed in EURO 2017 which took place in the Netherlands.
They were narrowly beaten by a strong England side during the group stages of that tournament, but did record a victory against Scotland, which they will look to build on this time round.
Portugal will play all their group games at Leigh Sports Village with the full line up of games below:
Portugal v Switzerland (Saturday 9 July) KO 5pm
Netherlands v Portugal (Wednesday 13 July) KO 8pm
Sweden v Portugal (Sunday 17 July) KO 5pm
Quarter Final – Winner Group C v Runner-Up Group D (Friday 22 July) KO 8pm
In addition to Portugal, football fans in Wigan & Leigh will also be able to see some of the best players in the world compete.
BBC Women’s Footballer of the Year 2021 Vivianne Miedema is due to lead the line for holders Netherlands while Sweden are the current Olympic silver medallists.
Switzerland, making only their second ever at appearance at a EURO, are also expected to perform well.
