Lancashire FA saddened to hear of the passing of our former Chair and Life Vice-President.

This week, Lancashire Football Association was saddened to learn of the passing of Colin Ackers, our former Chair of the Board of Directors, and Life Vice-President.

Colin AckersA long-serving member of Lancashire FA’s Board of Directors, Colin was first appointed as a Director in 1999 and would go on to spend 10 years on the Board.

Heavily involved in the Lancashire Amateur League, Colin joined its council in 1964 before being appointed Chairman in 1973. He held this position for 28 years, later being made Honorary Life President of the league.

An architect by trade, working for Thwaites brewery, Colin was responsible for the design of our headquarters on Thurston Road in Leyland.

A football man through and through, Colin loved the game. We are grateful for his contributions and the legacy he left to football in Lancashire.

Our thoughts are with Colin’s family, and all who knew him, at this sad time.
