Blackpool Ladies and Girls victorious in Women’s Challenge Cup

The Tangerines lifted the trophy at the County Ground on Monday night after beating Bury FC Foundation Women

Our first County Cup Final took place on Monday evening at the County Ground, with Blackpool Ladies and Girls defeating their opponents Bury FC Foundation Women.

Following a dominant performance throughout the game, which Bury failed to get a proper foothold in despite occasions of promise, the Seasiders won 4-0.

Captain of the side, Alice Earnshaw, spoke of her team’s work ethic and how that won them the cup: “We have worked extremely hard for this, blood, sweat and tears to get to this final alone. To get a 4-0 win with every player putting their part in, you can’t ask for anymore, at all.

"In the first 30 minutes of the game we were on top and the last 15 minutes of the first half we faded back a bit and we got a bit of a telling off in the changing room, and we came back out and we were the better side really."
