Winstanley Warriors U16 Warriors Reds lifted the U16 Youth Cup trophy, overcoming Heysham Blue Star U16 4-3 on penalties.

This closely contested final was action-packed and drama-filled from the moment the ref signalled to start the match.

Winstanley Warriors were the first on the scoresheet when the deadlock was broken in the second half.

While Winstanley desperately tried to hold on to their lead, Heysham Blue Star were too strong and got their deserved equaliser.

Just five minutes before the end of the ninety, the referee signalled for a penalty in Winstanley’s favour, but it was saved by Heysham’s keeper in a dramatic turn of events.

But Winstanley got their redemption winning 4-3 in the penalty shoot-out to lift the U16 Youth Cup 2023 Trophy.
