Wythenshawe seal victory in the Women’s Challenge Cup Final
Wythenshawe put on a rampant display at the County Ground that saw them cap of the season treble winners.
Three minutes after the whistle blew for kick off Wythenshawe took the lead.
Kirsty Chambers set a ball down the left channel for Chelsea Flanagan to chase, she took it round the keeper and slotted it home making it 1-0.
Not too long after, Flanagan returned the favour as her pass was latched onto by Chambers creating a two-goal deficit.
Haslingden had their best chance in the 31st minute through an effort from Isabella Chadwick that was blocked on the line.
Phillipa Wakefield played a lovely through ball through to Flanagan who charged into the opposition box, where for the second time she took the ball round the keeper and dispatched it for her brace.
The Ammies picked up where they left off in the first half as they grabbed their fourth, Bethany Tattersall was found inside the box who finished brilliantly.
In the 53rd minute Flanagan got her hat trick, Chambers linked up with the number nine as she rifled the ball into the back of the net.
Flanagan ran into a great through ball as she fired it home and made it 6-0.
It was clear to see the Ammies weren't done, Katie O’Gara had her ball flicked on by Charlotte Higginson where Flanagan executed her strike and grabbed her fifth goal of the night.
In the final minute Wythenshawe made it 8-0, Corie Mather’s cross field pass found Flanagan who grabbed another assist to Tatterersall who grabbed the final goal of the night.
