Bolton Wanderers Girls U14 Crowed Champions of the U14 Girls Youth Cup
Bolton Wanderers Girls U14 claimed the U14 Girls Youth Cup 2024 at the County Ground over the Latics.
A fantastic strike was all it took from Madison Fairclough to win the game ensuring they came out on top in a dramatic final.
The Trotters started the brightest and on the 11th minute they were rewarded, Fairclough forced some scrappy play in the opposition box, the ball feel back to the number 10 as she rifled it into the back of the Wigan net.
Fairclough was controlling the game in the middle, she linked up well with Abigail Carr to receive the ball under pressure but with a quick turn she got away from her opponent to have a shot well saved.
The end of the first half was exciting as both teams had a chance of scoring, a mistake from captain Lola Kay set Maddison Robinson through however she struck the post.
Fairclough looked to have got her brace as she was played through from the left channel however the shot was well saved to keep it 1-0 before the restart.
The second half was competitive and end to end, a good passage of play between Zofia Cygler and Fairclough set up a chance for the substitute who unleashed a curling effort that whispered past the post.
Electric all game Alannah Bowes showed some individual brilliance beating her opponent that left her one on one with the keeper, it looked a certain goal but was denied by a brilliant save from Zuzanna Smolen.
At full time the crowd erupted as Fairclough's early goal was enough to win the game.
The Bolton players flooded the pitch to celebrate back to back wins of the competition at U14's level.
