Every referee starts out at the bottom of the ladder, but if you want to progress to the next level or even to international standard, we're here to guide you along the way.
For the 2020/21 season, the FA Referees’ Committee have agreed to align the referee promotion periods to reflect the playing season (1st July – 30th April) for all match officials operating from Level 2B to Level 7.
In order to apply for promotion during the 2020/21 season, you are required to complete the online application as well as returning the promotion Service Level Agreement (SLA) to the Referee’s Department. The link to the online application form as well as the SLA can be found below. Applications are to be submitted no later than 31st May 2020.

Information for All Candidates
Prior to applying for promotion, it is imperative that you read the Promotion Scheme Guidance Booklet which can be found below. All of the necessary information regarding promotion can be found within this booklet along with the criteria required to be successful in achieving your promotion to the next level. Please do not apply for promotion until you have read the promotion guidance booklet and fully understand the criteria outlined within.
